Happy
4 Years to Collector’s Attic Antique Mall!
And Cheers to Many More!
By Tara Marie Lynn
Having been awarded the Critiques’ & People’s Choice
Awards 2001, Collector’s Attic Antique Mall was named Best
Antique Mall of Aurora in 2002.
Located 10 minutes from Downtown Denver, in the shopping center
just east of
Ed Bozarth Chevrolet at the corner of Jewell and Iliff, the mall
houses
eighty booths and showcases and conducts auctions every Thursday
at 6 p.m.
The in-store auctions are open to the public and are one of the
greatest ways
to find those favorite old surprises.
A
Little Bit of Everything
Owner Bobbie Sittloh, originally from the grocery business in Tampa
Bay, Florida prides herself on being different from other antique
malls. Best known for competitive prices and cleanliness, the family-run
mall boasts a Bonzai & Honey Tree booth, along with a fellow
who makes his own furniture and bird houses. This mall is also home
to one of the biggest sports dealers in Colorado and the President
of the Denver Doll Club.
Shabby Chic, cookie jars, Pez dispensers, artwork, swords, knives,
furniture, and vintage clothing are just part of the huge variety.
The dealers are really negotiable, which aids in the success of
the mall. “So many dealers are much more knowledgeable than
I am. I constantly learn from them,” Bobbie Sittloh is proud
to get to know her dealers.
“We
like to keep busy, and we just love people, so we always surround
ourselves... and that keeps us very busy!”
Bobbie and husband Russ Sittloh also own a landscaping company and
a Karaoke gig. Every month, the Sittlohs perform at a charity auction.
One of Bobbie’s favorites is the Hat Auction: everyone wears
a hat, then they are all auctioned off. Proceeds are donated to
a different charity each month.
Time not antiquing, is spent building and singing. The constant
flow of retail and auction complement each other perfectly.
The
Sittlohs’ personal collection consists of Barbie Dolls and
fifties garb. From Elvis and Marilyn Monroe, to Oz, Coca Cola, and
Gone With the Wind, these aren’t the Barbies most little girls
toss around and play house with. Each original collector’s
doll is stored in the original packaging, enhancing the collection.www.collectorsatticmall.com
